Sweet Success for Jeanette Minniti

Published

A rousing cheer for Jeanette Minniti! Her debut novel, THE ONLY WAY HOME, released in April from Penning Press. An historical fiction set in 1933 during the Great Depression, it’s the story of one boy’s determination to survive loss and hardship to help his family –and how fate and a violin touch the course of his life.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Desperate times. Danger on the rails. A journey to save a family.

It is 1933 inside a sweltering courtroom in Macon, Georgia. Fifteen-year-old Robert sits on a bench awaiting his fate after being picked up for vagrancy and spending a night in jail. He left his home in Illinois with a neighborhood friend to ride the rails to find work to help his widowed mother and siblings. After his friend became dismayed by the perils traveling and went back, Robert pursued their plans to find harvesting work in Georgia.

Going home empty-handed isn’t easy for Robert. His father died just prior to the onset of the Great Depression and the family lost their home and livelihood. Government agents came by to discuss the younger siblings live in other homes. Resolved to keep her family together, his mother was forced to sell most of their belongings. In an effort to help, Robert insisted on selling his precious violin.

THE ONLY WAY HOME is available through Amazon, Kobo, IndieBound, and through IngramSparks.
